Taking Laxatives To Lose Weight
Adult obesity in America is rampant, and so attempting to lose extra pounds is a sensible course of action. However, one of the dumbest methods of losing weight that’s being promoted is the use of laxatives.
The process of digestion starts in the mouth, proceeding through more than 20 feet of intestines and organs into the stomach, after which it is processed by the small intestine. Everything that passes all the way through the upper (small) intestines then becomes nothing but waste material in the lower (large) intestines
The large intestine contains a lot of different bacteria, which is quite harmless to the body overall as long as it all stays contained in the large intestine. The function of these bacteria is to help process the waste into smaller pieces in order that the body can safely and easily shed it.
In the large intestine, there exists a fragile relationship between solid waste and water. If this relationship is not kept in balance, constipation or diarrhea will be the outcome. Diarrhea happens if there is more water present than there should be , while constipation is from not enough water in the intestines.
The purpose of laxatives is to relieve constipation by pulling water back into the bowel from surrounding tissues and softening the stool so that it can pass comfortably . The large intestine does not contain very much weight; therefore, taking laxatives to lose weight won’t and can’t work. Only five pounds (at the very most) of your water / excrement mixture can be present in your large intestine.
Laxatives can help rid the body of this waste fast, but this weight will promptly be regained the next time that you eat or drink anything. The only way to achieve measurable results with weight loss is to change the way a person he is and the amount of exercise the person receives.
